I was excited, scared, and nervous all at once.
I wasn’t sure how she’d take it. I was hoping for the best.
At the time of this happening, I ran a little business picking up dog poop & walking dogs. Yea.
I had no “real” job and I was making NO where even CLOSE to a full time income. My wife and I were barley, barley scraping by each month.
My wife…she was supporting me. She had a normal full time job making I think not even $30,000 a year at the time.
As a man (who had always dreamed of being the bread winner…being able to fully support and provide for my wife and family)…that was really, really tough and hard to deal with.
It was the day of me sharing the news.
I was so excited about this opportunity. I had found this guy on the Internet who ran a little blog. He was making over $100,000 a year from this pretty average and kind of ugly looking website.
I figured…if this guy could make $100,000 a year working from home through his dinky little blog…why couldn’t I???
My wife had just gotten home from work and had walked in the front door.
It was about 5:30pm on a cold, dark January evening in 2010.
I couldn’t wait any longer to tell her.

We were standing in our living room of our 1,310 square foot 2 bedroom townhome.
My heart was pounding with excitement….and nervousness.
I then went on to explain to Jen that I wanted to start an online business. I shared with her what it was all about…I explained the costs, and I shared my excitement.
My heart then immediately sank.
Because her response was this…
“Jonathan…do not do it. We don’t have the money, and you don’t have the time or need to try to start yet another business. I don’t want you doing this.”
We then went back and forth…back and forth…and ended up in an argument about it.
My wife did NOT want me starting an online business.
She did NOT support me, and there was no convincing her otherwise.
A few days later though…
I signed up and officially started my online business. :-)
I made the decision, that if she’s not going to support me, I’ll just have to prove her wrong. There was absolutely no convincing her otherwise.
There was absolutely no convincing ME otherwise.
I knew that if I invested in the right training & had the right tools to get this going…
I knew that if I made the commitment to never let any obstacle get in my way…
And I knew that if I never ever quit…
Then I could make it work. And I’d be able to provide an incredibly better future for my wife and our future kids then I’d EVER EVER get from a job.
Fast forward to today…
Last year I made what would have taken me EIGHT years to make when I had a full time job making $30,000/year.
I’ve sold well over three quarters of a million dollars of stuff through the Internet.
My wife and I just bought a much larger home.
Needless to say, my wife now supports me. :-)
If you have people in your life who don’t support you.
If you have people in your life who say you can’t do it, or that it’s just a “scam” …
If you have people even making FUN of what you’re doing…
Know this…
You can do it.
Ignore them. And just do it.
